Observation of the surgery
Beginning in 1976, the Hara Eye Hospital was the first facility in the world to provide live surgical presentations to patients’ family members. This practice preceded information disclosure.
To protect the privacy of the patient, the observers are limited to patient’s family members who are older than 13 years old.
