The staff is comprised of the Director, a senior surgeon with over 30 years’ experience in cataract surgery, who has made numerous academic presentations about his studies and received awards for his films at international congresses in the United States, Canada, Germany, and Europe, as well as other well-trained doctors and co-medical staff members.

Observation of the surgery

Beginning in 1976, the Hara Eye Hospital was the first facility in the world to provide live surgical presentations to patients’ family members. This practice preceded information disclosure.
To protect the privacy of the patient, the observers are limited to patient’s family members who are older than 13 years old.
